I love audio, but don’t worry, I wasn’t foolish enough to stay in my comfort zone…
So, what did I do? How did I challenge myself?
First thing was creating my flushing out my character from an archetype:
For this one, I learned how to crop specific layers within Photoshop, and I focused on importing objects with similar lighting to the office space so they would look more natural there.
Reflecting on Audio
Next, it was time to reflect on Jad Abumrad’s thoughts of audio storytelling as a co-authored piece of work, and the dynamic between old and new storytelling tech. In my reflection, I was also able to address my past experience with audio, sharing some of my previous work. I also updated that post with my most recent audio work:
Tweet Along to Earth Abides
This was really fun – I was able to interact with my peers in a completely new way! I’ve never done a tweet-along before this one either. That being said, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Highlights include the hammer motif:
And my cheap-shot of a dog GIF for likes:

This is a really cool project, and I’m glad I could listen reflect on it, add to it, and view the additions of others! In this one, I learned how to edit voice audio so that it sounds like it’s coming through a radio or some low-quality speaker.
Create a Place
In this assignment post, I made a soundscape based off of Hugh Howey’s description of the silo in Wool:
This one took awhile with all the editing.
Play DJ & Make a Song
This assignment post allowed me to build up, and finally commit to finishing a music project of mine. When I picked this song up for this assignment at the beginning of the week, it was barely fleshed out – I’m proud of the work I did on it. I learned so much about things like VST plugins, effects, and general song structure.
This one took a looong time, but perhaps most importantly, I learned how to bring on the base.
Question of the Week
How are you feeling? Be specific.
After that suspicious-looking agent questioned my recovery of a DOG unit, I’m freaking out. I tried to update my site with SSL protocol and certification in hopes it could block them from seeing this post. What was he going on about? Who is he? Surely there’s no such thing as a DOG unit… or maybe… what else of these “assignments” are more fact than fiction?
How am I feeling? Not good. I feel like I’m being watched now… If I can afford it, more updates to come. This one post may have been too much.
